Puppy Crate: What you need to know before the first month
Bringing a puppy home is an intense adventure. A puppy box can be an excellent tool for discovering suitable toys and snacks — provided you know what to look for.
What a puppy needs in their box
Suitable toys
Puppies have developing jaws and fragile milk teeth. Avoid toys that are too hard (nylon, extreme rubber). Prefer soft rubber, cotton ropes, and sturdy plush toys without small detachable parts.
Snacks suitable for young jaws
Soft or semi-moist treats. Size adapted to the breed: mini for Chihuahuas, standard for Labradors. No hard bones to chew before 6 months. Avoid products with xylitol, chocolate, and grapes — very toxic to dogs.
When to start a puppy box?
From 3 months old. Before 3 months, the puppy is still in the imprinting phase and its needs are met by its mother. From 3 months onwards, socialization and stimulation through toys become crucial for its cognitive and emotional development.
